NZ-made pest traps — reusable, effective, and built for Kiwi homes and businesses

Fly Traps

Reusable, UV-tough fly traps baited from your pantry — no chemicals, no single-use plastic.

NZ-made traps

A good fly trap is the backbone of chemical-free fly control in a New Zealand home. Instead of spraying, you hang a reusable trap near the source — the bin, the compost, a sunny window — and let a simple household bait draw flies in and keep them off your food.

GotchaPest fly traps are designed and made in New Zealand for our conditions: UV-tough so the harsh sun does not make them brittle, refillable with everyday bait like sugar-water or a little protein, and emptied and reused season after season. One trap replaces years of disposable fly strips.

Why a reusable trap?

  • ✓ UV-tough for the harsh New Zealand sun
  • ✓ Refilled with everyday pantry bait — no chemicals
  • ✓ Emptied and reused season after season
  • ✓ Designed and made in New Zealand

How to set up your fly trap

Three minutes to set up, then leave it to work.

STEP 01

Add the bait

Pour a sweet bait (sugar-water with a little beer or yeast) for house and bush flies, or a protein bait (a meat scrap or fish stock) for blowflies.

STEP 02

Place near the source

Hang or set the trap near the bin, the compost, a sunny window, or upwind of your seating — a few metres from where you eat.

STEP 03

Let it work

UV-stabilised and weatherproof, it stays out in the New Zealand sun and rain, drawing flies off your food all day.

STEP 04

Empty & refill

When it fills up, tip out the catch, rinse, and top up with fresh pantry bait. One trap lasts for years.

The right bait for each fly

Different flies go for different bait — match yours and the trap fills fast.

House fly

Sugar-water or a little beer

The classic kitchen pest; loves anything sweet.

Bush fly

Sugar-water or beer

Swarms people outdoors for sweat; sweet bait draws them off.

Blow fly

Protein — meat scrap or fish stock

Shiny bluebottle that finds the bin; protein works best.

Cluster fly

Not bait-attracted

Seal and vacuum instead; they do not breed in waste.

Where to hang it for the best results

  • ✓Near the source. The outdoor bin, the compost heap, a sunny window where cluster flies gather, or upwind of your barbecue seating.
  • ✓A few metres from food. Place the trap upwind of where you eat so it pulls flies away from your plate, not toward it.
  • ✓Out of direct reach. Hang it at roughly head height on a fence, tree or hook so it is easy to check and empty.
  • ✓Top up fresh bait weekly. Refresh the bait every week or two in peak summer to keep it attractive.

A trap, not a swarm

A reusable fly trap is a decoy, not a magnet. Placed upwind of your food and seating, it draws flies off the table and into the trap — so your deck stays clear while the trap does the catching.

No chemicals, no single-use plastic, no fuss — just a UV-tough NZ-made trap you refill from the pantry and reuse season after season.
