- Between the source and the people. Intercept flies before they reach you.
- In shade, not full sun. Heat spoils bait fast.
- Downwind of seating. The smell draws flies to the trap, not your BBQ.
- At fly height. 1–2m off the ground for house flies.

Near the sink or bin, out of direct food-prep areas.
Garden / patio
10m from seating, between the bins and the house.
Farm
15–20m from animal housing, on the perimeter.
Where NOT to place a fly trap
- Over the dining table or BBQ.
- In a sealed cupboard (flies need to find it).
- In full afternoon sun.
- Directly beside a beehive.
