NZ-made pest traps — reusable, effective, and built for Kiwi homes and businesses

Wasp Traps

Reusable, bee-safe wasp traps that pull wasps off your food — no chemicals, no single-use plastic.

NZ-made traps

A reusable wasp trap is the calmest way to take back your deck in a New Zealand summer. Instead of spraying, you hang a trap a few metres from where you eat and let a simple bait draw foraging wasps toward it — and away from your food, drinks and kids.

GotchaPest wasp traps are designed and made in New Zealand for our conditions: UV-tough so the harsh sun does not make them brittle, bee-safe so the entry and bait target wasps and leave pollinators alone, and refillable with everyday pantry bait so you never need chemicals. One trap replaces years of disposable wasp bags.

Why a reusable trap?

  • ✓ UV-tough for the harsh New Zealand sun
  • ✓ Refilled with everyday pantry bait — no chemicals
  • ✓ Emptied and reused season after season
  • ✓ Designed and made in New Zealand

How to set up your wasp trap

Bait it right, hang it in the right spot, and it pulls wasps off your food all summer.

STEP 01

Add the bait

Early in the season wasps want protein — a scrap of meat or fish works. From late summer on, switch to a sweet bait: sugar-water, jam or a little beer. The trap targets wasps, not bees.

STEP 02

Hang it away from where you sit

Place the trap 5–10 metres from your deck, picnic table or children's play area — along a fence line or in a tree, upwind of where you gather.

STEP 03

Let it draw them off

A wasp trap is a decoy. Hung away from your food, it pulls foraging wasps toward the bait and away from your plate and drinks.

STEP 04

Empty & refill

When it fills, tip out the catch, rinse and top up with fresh bait. UV-stabilised and weatherproof, one trap lasts for years of New Zealand summers.

The right bait for each wasp

Wasps switch their diet through the season — match the bait and the trap fills fast, without touching bees.

German & common wasps

Protein early, sweet late

Our most aggressive picnic raiders. Meat or fish in spring, sugar-water or jam from late summer.

Paper wasps

Sugar-water or fruit

Long-legged, hang their nests in shrubs. A sweet bait draws the foragers away from the garden.

Bees (to avoid)

Not attracted

The entry is sized for wasps and the bait is placed away from flowers, so bees are left to forage in peace.

Bee-safe by design

  • ✓Sized for wasps. The entry is built for wasps, so bees and pollinators are left to do their work in the garden.
  • ✓Baited, not poisoned. There is no insecticide — just a food-based bait inside a sealed chamber a pet or child cannot reach.
  • ✓Place away from flowers. Hang it along a fence or tree, not over a flowering garden, and bees simply are not interested.
  • ✓Safe around hives. Beekeepers use the same trap at the hive entrance to intercept wasps without harming the colony.

A decoy, not a magnet

A wasp trap works by being a more attractive target than your lunch. Hung a few metres away, it pulls foraging wasps toward the bait and away from your food, drinks and kids — so your deck stays clear while the trap does the catching.

No chemicals, no single-use plastic — just a UV-tough, NZ-made trap you refill from the pantry and reuse summer after summer.
