Wasp Nest Control
Bee-safe traps that keep foraging wasps off your food and seating — plus guidance on when a nest is a DIY job or a professional one.
A wasp nest in a New Zealand garden is one of the most dangerous things you can stumble on — yellow wasps will swarm and sting repeatedly, and paper wasps will defend their comb. The first step is always the same: stay back, watch the traffic from a distance, and work out which wasp you are dealing with.
A bee-safe GotchaPest wasp trap is the right tool for the foraging workers around your home and food — it draws them off the table without chemicals and without touching bees. For the nest itself, follow our wasp nest guide to decide whether a small exposed comb is safe to remove at night, or whether you need a professional pest controller.

Found a wasp nest? Read this first
A wasp nest in New Zealand is almost always one of two things: an enclosed paper nest built by a yellow wasp (German or common) hidden in the ground, a wall or a tree, or a small open comb built by a paper wasp under the eaves. A small, exposed paper-wasp comb is usually safe to remove yourself at night; a large or hidden yellow-wasp nest is a job for a professional.
A bee-safe trap does not destroy a nest — it catches foraging workers, keeping them off your food and seating. For the full nest-safety guide — how to find, identify and safely deal with a wasp nest — see our wasp nest guide.
